Homework
Nightly:
- Check the yellow “daily folder” for math homework. Homework is optional and ungraded. The main benefit of a child completing this homework (or even part of this homework) is that you, as a parent, get to see what skills he/she is working on & can offer additional explanation if a child is confused.
Weekly:
- Read (independently or with a family member) at least 15-20 mins, 4 days per week
- Practice basic addition & subtraction facts – 10 mins 3 x per week (unless your child has already mastered those facts)
- Review work sent home in the Thursday Folder with your parents
*Note: Homework is optional in 2nd grade. However, I think reading every night and practicing math facts on a regular basis (unless your child already has the basic addition & subtraction facts down) is really important. If your child is struggling with a homework assignment, stop working on it, and email me so that I am aware of the concept with which they are having difficulty.
